On June 9, meia.dúzia® officially inaugurated its first store in Madeira, located at Rua do Aljube, No. 63, next to Funchal Cathedral. The opening marks a new chapter for the Portuguese brand, bringing its “Flavors of Portugal” concept to the Autonomous Region of Madeira: an experience that combines gastronomy, creativity, tradition, and design in a unique format — the tube.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, the Regional Secretary for Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, and the Mayor of Funchal, Jorge Carvalho. Their presence reinforced the importance of this investment for the local economy, the promotion of regional products, and the creation of new connections between Madeira and the rest of Portugal.

Founded in 2012 by siblings Andreia Ferreira and Jorge Ferreira, meia.dúzia® was born from a simple yet distinctive idea: preserving Portuguese flavors in tubes, maintaining the authenticity of ingredients while making tasting experiences more practical, creative, and surprising. Over the years, the brand has specialized in fruit jams, chocolates, honeys, spreads, sauces, chutneys, and condiments, always using Portuguese ingredients connected to different regions of the country.
At the new Funchal store, visitors can discover sweet and savory flavors representing various parts of Portugal: olive spreads from Douro and Beira Baixa, fig jams with Port Wine, São Tomé dark chocolates with Portuguese fruits and wines, traditional fruit jams, chestnut spread from Trás-os-Montes, mango and pineapple chutneys from the Azores, among many other combinations.

Madeira now holds a special place in this gastronomic journey. To celebrate its arrival on the island, meia.dúzia® developed exclusive products featuring local ingredients, including Madeira Banana Jam with Clementine and Madeira Rum, Madeira Passion Fruit Jam with Ginger, Dark Chocolate with Orange and Madeira Wine, Madeira Mango Chutney, and Madeira Passion Fruit Chocolate. These flavors reflect the richness of regional production and demonstrate how Madeiran identity can blend with the brand’s creative universe.
The opening of the store has also fostered new local partnerships. Among the regional products already incorporated or currently being developed are honey bread, Madeira honey cake, sugarcane syrup, traditional poncha, and Madeira Wine, creating opportunities for regional gift boxes, gastronomic souvenirs, and tasting experiences that showcase local producers.

More than just a store, the meia.dúzia® space in Funchal presents itself as a sensory experience — a place for sharing, tasting, and discovery, where visitors can sample unique flavor combinations, learn about the products, and explore packaging inspired by Portuguese art, design, and culture. The brand’s visual identity, recognized for its colorful tubes and carefully designed gift boxes, finds a natural home in Madeira: an island known for its strong identity, hospitality, and gastronomic heritage.
This is the brand’s sixth store. Madeira was chosen due to its strong customer base on the island, the vibrant tourism sector in Funchal, and the potential to bring Madeiran flavors to international audiences through a brand already present across mainland Portugal and several global markets.

During the opening ceremony, Miguel Albuquerque highlighted the importance of projects that add value to local products, particularly those that create connections between businesses, producers, and strategic sectors of the regional economy. The development of niche products transformed into distinctive offerings with a clear identity was presented as an opportunity to strengthen the primary sector and diversify Madeira’s economic landscape.
The first meia.dúzia® store in Madeira further strengthens the connection between tradition and innovation. On one side are ingredients rooted in origin, memory, and authenticity; on the other, a contemporary, practical presentation designed to surprise. At its heart is the desire to tell Portugal’s story through flavor — now with Madeira playing a leading role.
Located in the heart of Funchal, next to the Cathedral, the new store invites residents and visitors alike to discover a different way of tasting Portugal. In every tube, there is a region, a story, an unexpected combination, and a new way to take Portuguese flavors home.
